Fundamentals of Electricity

This course offers you a basic understanding of the fundamentals of electricity. This training allows you to read schematics, use test meters, handle electrical systems, and ground and energize circuits.

Fundamentals of Solar

An overview of photovoltaic (PV) science with an introduction to solar energy. You learn the concepts and processes of photovoltaic systems. You also review the scope of conceptual, mechanical, and electrical design of solar energy systems.

Electrical Wiring – Residential and Commercial

A review of the National Electrical Code Book to teach the basic techniques of residential and commercial wiring while interpreting the code book requirements. During this course, you learn about hand tools, ladders, shock hazards, and personal protective equipment required to work in the Electrical field. Students also learn about load calculations, blueprint reading, cost estimating, three-phase motor wiring, conduit manipulation, and how to safely place wiring, circuits, switches, receptacles, lighting fixtures, and GFCI devices according to the electrical code.

Emerging Electrical Applications

This course expands on what you learned during the commercial electrical wiring course and focuses on pull boxes, junction boxes, conductor selection, calculations, conductor installation techniques, and the applications of conductor terminations and splices.

Motors and Lighting Practices

A review of Alternating Current (AC) and Direct Current (DC) as it relates to motors and lighting practices. You will learn about the behavior of electricity and how it functions in motors, lighting, and the devices that control them.

Electrical Distribution Systems

This course focuses on transformers, switchgear, overcurrent protection, fuses, circuit breakers, and cable tray systems and their size and applications. It also teaches you the proper technique for grounding and bonding based on NEC requirements.
