HVAC Job Growth Rate
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reports that job growth for heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration mechanics and installers (HVACR) is set at 14% up to the year 2024. Fast-Tracked Training
Training at a vocational school for HVAC typically take less time than going to a university or community college. In fact, you can train to become an HVAC technician in as little as six months. Because of the shorter period of time, you are less likely to rack up student debt than you would be if you attended a traditional two or four year college. Another advantage is training at a vocational school, students can enter the workforce quicker moving to financial independence faster.
Good Pay
The mean annual wage for HVAC mechanics and installers is currently $47,380. However, salary always depends on geographical location, industry and experience. More experienced technicians can receive higher pay band move on to supervisory roles. Many HVAC technicians work full time and also take on evening and weekend overtime shifts, which can also significantly increase earning potential. 3
